Sangha
Originally used to refer to the community of ordained monks and nuns, today the Sanskrit word Sangha is often used to describe a spiritual community of ordinary practitioners.
The importance of spiritual community is emphasized throughout the Buddha’s teachings, and it is for this reason that weekly webcast teachings are received in a community of other practitioners. Please check class locations for the Sangha nearest you, or you can petition Bodhimarga to create a Sangha in your local community.
Taking refuge in the Three Jewels, which are the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, is an important practice in Buddhism. It is said that looking into any of the Three Jewels, you see the other two. Sangha is therefore essential to the practice.
