Annual Pilgrimage

Ti-ts’ang asked Fa-yen, “Where are you going?”
Fa-yen said, “Around on pilgrimage.”
Ti-ts’ang said, “What is the purpose of pilgrimage?”
Fa-yen said, “I don’t know.”
Ti-ts’and said, “Not knowing is nearest.”
